Council News - Milton Keynes be a better biker logoSkill courses to teach motorcyclists how to get the best out of their machines and still remain safe are being run by Milton Keynes Council.

The 'Be a Better Biker' courses are to be held on Saturday, July 26th at Great Holm fire station, and Saturday, 13th September at Bletchley fire station.

Since the start of the pink bag doorstep collection scheme, the colour pink has become identified with recycling in the city so choosing pink for the new recycling banks was the obvious choice.

An innovative idea to discover the most effective way to clear chewing gum from the city streets is being developed by Milton Keynes Council (MKC). The scourge of chewing gum litter costs the council thousands of pounds to clean-up every year so specially designed gum litter bins are to be installed in a trial at Queensway, Bletchley.

A new local byelaw has been introduced aimed at stopping people making life a misery for local residents of Tyringham and Filgrave. For years summer revellers have gathered at Tyringham Bridge, which overlooks the River Great Ouse, to jump, dive and hang from it. As well as the inherent danger itself, the gatherings inevitably lead to problems with noise, litter, cars being used dangerously, and abuse being hurled at passers-by.

Temporary Move from Coachway

Council News - CoachwayFrom the 26th April 2008 the Coachway will move from its current location at Junction 14 whilst a new coach passenger terminal is constructed.

Long distance coach services currently calling at Junction 14 will move to a temporary location between Montrose Street and Pilgrim Street, off Silbury Boulevard in Campbell Park, where facilities will include a waiting room, café, ticket office, toilets, a shop with taxi booking facilities and approximately 60 adjacent parking spaces. The site will be well lit, have CCTV and 24 hour on-site security.
