Milton Keynes residents are to have their say on key city transport issues. Milton Keynes Council is holding three consultations, which are open until the 12 November 2008. The first is asking residents to give feedback on future transport proposals such as, road improvements and adopting policies that will encourage more people to walk and cycle.

Council News - Keeping the play areas of Milton Keynes better repaired than ever before was recognised this month in national awards to find the Best Efficiency initiative. The Continuous Improvement Team of Milton Keynes Council was challenged to find a better way to repair and maintain the 450 play areas across the borough while at the same time saving money.

Top Taiwan health officials visit Milton Keynes

The Deputy Minister from Taiwan's Department of Health visited Milton Keynes on 9th September to gain an understanding of how the city's telecare and telehealth services support older and vulnerable people to live independently in their homes.

Tzay-Jinn Chen was among 12 high-level representatives from the department who were shown how Milton Keynes Council and Milton Keynes Primary Care Trust have been working together since 2005 providing the service which improves residents' quality of life.

From this week a number of parking bays will be closed off to the public until around the end of October 2008 to facilitate the installation of pipe-work for the power supply to The Pinnacle office development and to place a temporary generator until the development is complete.

Temporary Move from Coachway

Council News - CoachwayFrom the 26th April 2008 the Coachway will move from its current location at Junction 14 whilst a new coach passenger terminal is constructed.

Long distance coach services currently calling at Junction 14 will move to a temporary location between Montrose Street and Pilgrim Street, off Silbury Boulevard in Campbell Park, where facilities will include a waiting room, café, ticket office, toilets, a shop with taxi booking facilities and approximately 60 adjacent parking spaces. The site will be well lit, have CCTV and 24 hour on-site security.

Council News - Finishing touchesCash-strapped pensioners needing to fix a boiler or replace old wiring in their home can now turn to Milton Keynes Council for a low cost home improvement loan.

Under a new scheme the council has up to £1.3m to loan out over the next three years to pensioners so they can improve the warmth, comfort, safety and security of their homes.
