Background information on the Gambling Act 2005
The Gambling Commission regulate commercial gambling in Great Britain, with the exception of the National Lottery and Spread Betting. The Gambling Commission are also responsible for issuing operating and personal licences.
The Gambling Act 2005 transfers all responsibility for the licensing of gambling premises from Licensing Justices (at the Magistrates Court) to Licensing Authorities (the Local Authority). Licensing Authorities are also responsible for a number of different permits, as well as temporary and occasional use notices.

The Gambling Act makes provision for what are termed ‘interested parties' to make representations about applications for premises licences. Representations are formal issues raised in response to applications; please click on the title above for more information.

Milton Keynes Council, as the Licensing Authority proposes to issue a premises licence for a large casino within its area pursuant to Part 8 and Schedule 9 of the Gambling Act 2005 and the Categories of Casino Regulations 2008 (SI 2008/1330) and have invited applications to be made for said licence.
