MK14-19 - 14-19 WebletWelcome to this website about the way learning opportunities for all young people aged 14-19 are being developed in Milton Keynes (in line with national policy) to:

  • Provide a curriculum with more personal opportunities and challenges
  • Increase success rates
  • Develop new courses and offer new qualifications


Curriculum

The secondary (up to GCSE) curriculum is being developed to be more individually engaging and personalised, to provide more young people with a good grounding in ICT, English, Maths and employability skills and to encourage more participation in further and higher education.

Access to the Higher Education Curriculum in Milton Keynes will be enhanced from September 2008 with the opening of the Milton Keynes University Centre in Silbury Boulevard - visit the MK College website to learn, www.mkcollege.ac.uk.

Diplomas - New Qualifications

The diploma is a new flexible qualification for 14-19 year olds, designed in partnership with universities and employers. It can combine opportunities for learning in new ways with a choice of A levels or GCSEs. A range of diplomas are being introduced over the next few years, starting in Milton Keynes with Construction in September 2008.

Structures - how things work

MK14-19 - 14-19 webletLocally there is a 14-19 Strategy Group with working groups looking at: the curriculum; provision for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities; diploma developments; student support. This is all likely to change but some minutes are available.
