Outdoor Education Service

Milton Keynes Outdoor Education Service comprises of The Caldecotte Xperience at Simpson Milton Keynes and the Longrigg Residential Centre situated in the beautiful countryside on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales.
The Centres offer a very different service and yet are very complementary to one another. Both Centres are committed to giving young people positive experiences that will last a lifetime. The Centres are steadfast to high quality outdoor education & adventure and the Governments manifesto "Learning Outside the Classroom".

We offer a variety of exciting adventure activities and learning experience for young people and adults, from 8 to 80. Activities include, sailing, canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing, rowing, dragon boating, climbing, high ropes, caving, archery, fencing and lots of other team building activities. We also offer the D of E Award, camping, bunk room accommodation, room hire and training facilities. Our team of permanent professional staff are very experienced and highly qualified in all their activities.

Caldecotte runs a wide variety of fun, educational development programmes and clubs to suit you.

Easter Holidays @ The Caldecotte Xperience of a Lifetime What a fantastic time you could have this Easter. Come along and join in the fun & excitment on one of our water sports or land based courses/sessions. There are sessions for familes and young people.

Family Sailing This Easter we have a great exciting opportunity for sailing as a family. Mums & dads can learn to sail alongside their children. Its going to be great fun

Young people There are beginner sailing and canoeing / kayaking courses this Easter and sessions for those young people who have done some paddling before including a day river and canal trip - remember to bring your packed lunch for this one.

Looking for a challenge and a chance to try something new?

Instruction in: Climbing, abseiling, high ropes - working towards possible trips to the Peak District to broaden and test your skills.

Learning to sail is great fun and exciting learn to sail and advance through the RYA's youth training scheme. Join in the beginners sessions if you are new to sailing, or if you can sail already join our fantastic Saturday morning Pirate Club. Milton Keynes Junior Rowing Club is an up and coming group of 8 - 18 year olds who are looking for the fun and excitement of competitive sport at all levels. Sessions are held the water at Caldecotte North Lake.

Caldecotte Youth Sailability is part of The Caldecotte Xperience Outdoor Education Centre, which has been established for 12 years and is a partnership between Milton Keynes Council and the registered charity Action4Youth. Caldecotte Youth Sailability

Learn to sail on Caldecotte North lake - At the Caldecotte Xperience we never say it's too late to start a new activity, There are weekly sailing sessions for all levels that take place every Friday morning. Come and learn to sail or improve your sailing skills in a fun, friendly and social group.

Adult Sailing Courses - Go on give it a GO

Offshore sailing in large yachts providing you the freedom of the open sea.This year we have 3 great trips planned and our exciting programme for 2010 includes both social & family sailing and a fantastic voyage to the Channel Isles.

Our first weekend is for adult social & family sailing, joining the boat on Friday evening April 30th - Sunday 2nd May

For those sailors who have some experience and are looking for a longer sea trip we have a fantastic voyage for the more adventurous sailors to - Cherbourg & the Channel Isles Sunday 27th June - Sunday 4th July.

The final all adult social trip of the year will be once again in the Solent Friday evening 1st October – Sunday 3rd October.
