Strategy and Regeneration

Our team is part of the Chief Executives Office and works with Parishes and community groups in Milton Keynes to help implement regeneration schemes throughout the borough. On this page you can find details of some of the projects that we have been involved with, are currently involved in and how these will effect the environment in which you live and work. There are also details of projects that we work on in partnership with others to implement around the South East region.

Regeneration in Bletchley

What is Happening in Bletchley?

Who are the organsiations that represent you in regeneration projects in Bletchley?
For central Bletchley its the Bletchley Development Board for Water Eaton and the Lakes Estate it the Lakes Strategic Partnership, Spotlight On Bletchley Community Partnership and the action groups from The Placecheck. There are also your local parish/town Councils, who are involved in all of the groups and organisations listed and work hard for the benefit of the communities they represent.

Newport Pagnell

Regeneration - Newport Pagnell High StreetNewport Pagnell is one of the older towns that make up the Milton Keynes area. Located to the north of Milton Keynes, with a population of nearly 15,000, Newport Pagnell plays an important role as a local centre for Milton Keynes.

As a result of having recently completed the Countryside Agencies 'Healthcheck', which the regeneration team helped to support, this process has enabled an Action Plan for the towns development, which is here for you to download. This Action Plan sets out the community's aims and objectives for the town over the next 20 years. The appendices can also be downloaded (A-C, D, D II, D III, D IV, D V, E-K) here.

South East Rural Towns Partnership

Regeneration - South East Rural Towns Partnership LogoMilton Keynes Council works in Partnership with other towns in the South East of England, to secure funding to help rural areas of the city. The Rural Towns Initiative is currently being administered by the regeneration team.

Olney

'Olney For You' Healthcheck

After the Success of Newport Pagnell, Olney is now also undertaking the Countryside Agency's 'Healthcheck' process, branded by the community as Olney For You . The Town will be supported by the Regeneration Team throughout this procedure, in involving residents to conduct a commuinity appraisal, which will result in the formation of an Action Plan for the development of each town.

Olney Neighbourhood Action Group (NAG)
The Olney Nag are holding a public meeting on Tuesday 27th March 2007, at 12noon in the Olney Town Council Offices. The meeting is designed to give you the opportunity to tell the NAG about the issues that really matter to you and help to stamp out crime and anti-social behaviour where YOU live.

Wolverton

Regeneration - WolvertonWolverton, on the outskirts of Milton Keynes, is essentially a densely built historic town within a larger urban area. Its original role was a railway town.

Stony Stratford

Stony Stratford Futures Group is the organisation set-up to take forward the items in the Action Plan created and agreed by the people of Stony Stratford on completing the 'Healthcheck' community led appraisal. At the moment they are working on some heritage and public realm improvements for the High Street to compliment the improvements implemented as part of the traffic review. Watch this space to see the ideas as they are agreed.

Bucks And Milton Keynes Food Group

Regeneration - Food Group LogoThe Food Group has been set up to support local food and local food producers in the region.

Local Farmers Markets

Milton Keynes Council is keen to support Farmers Markets across the borough, especially as an aid to support the economic regeneration of our older towns and rural communities, so if you are looking for fresh, local produce try a visit to one of the Farmers Markets dates of local farmers markets

The Central Bletchley Regeneration Strategy was adopted as supplementary planning guidance on 20th July 2004.
